Africa Women volleyball club Championships: Kenya Pipeline take bronze

Kenya Volleyball national champions Kenya Pipeline were too smart against their arch-rivals Kenya Prisons to win the the bronze medal at the concluded Africa Women volleyball club Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

Pipeline beat Prisons 3-2 sets on Thursday evening in an all Kenyan affair after all fell to North African sides at the semi final levl.

Pipeline won the opening set in 25-23 but resilient Warders won the second at 21-25 Pipeline won the third set in 25-22. with luck evading Pipeline, Prisons won the extended 4th set standing at 27-29 in last five set thriller and determiner, Pipeline won 15-12.

The two Kenyan giants were on Tuesday night eliminated from the championship in Egypt at the semi-final stage by North African opposition.

Prisons were beaten by the tournament’s defending champions Tunisia’s Carthage 3-1 sets (25-15, 22-25, 25-23, 25-21) in the first last four contest staged at the Ahly Hall in Cairo.

Soon after, Pipeline – who are the Kenya Volleyball Federation league champions – suffered the same fate, losing to hosts and seven time continental champions Ahly in similar set scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-8).
