Musingu High school football captain Harrison Ammalemba has set the focus to win the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National championships set for Kakamega County.
After finishing second last year during the national, the captain is optimistic that, since they are hosting the championships, they have no option but to take home advantage to claim the title.
“We have been preparing for the nationals since last week and we promise that we shall win the trophy. Last year, we finished second but this time we want to win the title,” he said.
Speaking yesterday after losing a friendly match to Bukembe Boys at the Kanduyi stadium, Amalemba emphasized that as Western region, they want to win the title as Scorpions.
“Musingu is a good school under coach Mwinano who is a great coach and I know that once I leave the school, I will be somewhere. We shall win both national and East Africa,” he said.
He was backed by hi coach Brendan Mwinamo said that they will be playing not as Musingu but Western Region as a whole.
“We are representing the bigger region, not the school at this time because we are the regional champions,” said the coach adding that Bukembe has been a good team and competitor ahead of the nationals.
As hosts, they are seeded top in pool A alongside North Eastern from North Eastern region, Agai Secondary School of Nyanza and Moi High school Mbiruri from Eastern.
Pool B has Central’s Kirangari, Rift Valley’s St Joseph’s Boys Kitale, Serani of Coast and Nairobi’s Highway.
on Tuesday July 29th, Musingu will open the campaign against Mbururi, with Agai playing North Eastern, then Serani hosting Kirangari and Highway playing St Joseph’s.
