Amateur hunt for points heads to Kitale

Top Kitale golfer Philip Shiharsy will be taking on home turf at the weekend’s Trans Nzoia Open, the 6th leg of Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) on par 73 Kitale golf Club.

The Kitale will have a new champion following the defending champion and three time winmner Kenneth Bollo turning professional together with Alfred Nandwa.

Handicap 2 Shiharsy said that his target is to win his maiden KAGC title at home in the 54 hole circuit in the two day event that kicks off on Saturday to Sunday in Trans Nzoia County.

Shihasry added that playing 54 holes won’t be a walk in the park but needs humility and endurance as top amatures solidify their points ahead of Kenya Golf Open in 2019.

“Playing 54 holes is not easy but I do my best to gain much needed points. I will do my best to win at home since majority of golfers here look upon me as their saviour,” said Shiharsy.

But he will have to deal with KAGC title defending champion Edwin Mudanyi of Vet lab, Mike Kisia (Vet Lab), Dennis Saikwa (Royal), John Karichu of Limuru among other top golfers who will turn up for the championships.

Mudanyi said is leading on the board said that he is ready for Kitale series.

“My game is better and My swing is good I know the field very well though the weather is not that good now, Last year I finished second this year am looking forward for good performance”. Said Mudanyi

Eldoret club chairman Andrew chelogoi will also be on the tee. The Western Kenya Golf representative, Chelogoi said he was ready for the championships.
