Asbel Kiprop mourns his elder brother’s death, Bellah Kemboi

Double world 1,500m champion has been joined by athletes amd journalists in mourning the death of his elder brother Bellah Kemboi.

In grieving state,  Kirprop will not be seeking to gain a ticket to this year’s Commonwealth Games in God Coast Australia. The team that will represent Kenya at the Queen’s games will be selected tomorrow at Kasarani stadium.

Coming from Simat Village, Uasin Gishu County, the area has top sportsmen led by athletics coaches David Letting, Richard Metto, Amos Rono,  Isaac Kirwa volleyball guru Paul Bitok among other,

The 35 year old died on Tuesday in what the doctors say was heart failure. Kemboi collapsed on Tuesday morning while going through his daily chores at his home in Simat, Uasin Gishu County.

Speaking to Daily Nation, Kiprop said he has lost a brother who was so close to him.

“I have lost a brother who was close to me and was always there to support me in my career. I will always miss him,” said Kiprop.

Funeral arrangements are being held at their home in Simat and he will be buried on Tuesday next week.
