It was a bad day for athletics family in Kenya following the sudden death of an athlete in Kapsabet, Nandi County.
Training activities have been disrupted today at the Eliud Kipchoge Complex after Weldon Kerich Cheruiyot collapsed and died why training in Kapsabet.
The athletes mourned the death of their teammate who passed away while doing his daily training and sharpening his skills before going to participate in the China Marathon in February.
Coming from Bomet county, Boston Marathon Champion Robert Kiprono, who is his uncle, said his teammate had been suffering from heart problems for the past 4 years and had been advised by a doctor not to participate in any training or competitions in the country.
All the athletes of the Jubilee Camp have made unusual prayers at the stadium today before training in honor of his teammate.
