Belinda Wanjiru wins golf silver for Kenya at Africa Youth Games

Junior golfer Belinda Wanjiru secured silver medal for Kenya at the ongoing Africa Youth Games in Luanda, Angola.

With Kenya’s continued impressive performance, adding more medals, the junior golfer Wanjiru securing a silver medal in the girls’ category when she posted 231.

Coming from vet Lab, Wanjiru posted a steady performance across the three rounds, carding 78 in the opening round before improving with scores of 76 and 77.

The gold medal was won by Zimbabwe’s Mirriam Masiya, who dominated the field with 214, as Nigeria’s Josephine Clement claimed the bronze.

In the boys’ golf competition, Kenya narrowly missed out on a podium finish after Tsevi Soni placed fourth. The medals in that category were taken by Zimbabwe’s Munesu Chimhini, Namibia’s Sam Nel, and Ghana’s Kingsley Affuk.

Meanwhile, Kenya’s beach volleyball teams, both men and women, also finished in fourth place, just outside the medal positions. With these results, Kenya’s overall medal count at the Africa Games now stands at 11, comprising four gold, three silver, and four bronze medals
