Birdie lover Terer claim Kenya Seed title in Nandi

Green keeper Peter Terer fired 44 stable ford points to win the Kenya Seed Golf series title at the Nandi Bears’ golf club on Saturday.
It was a good day for Terer after marking the greens with difficult pins and came home with victory after sinking three birdies, one in the first nune with two in the second nine.
Handicap 12 player took advantage of home course.
“My target was to win at least something and I was targeting either the longest drive or nearest to pin prizes because the course was so difficult to play. I placed the pins in difficult positions and proved to be a challenge even for my side but I managed to emerge victorious, something I did not anticipate,” said Terer.
In his outward nine, he fired a birdie in 8th par 3 to boost his winning ways, added three pars in 3, 4 and 5 and ended the first round after dropping a shot in 1, 2, 6, 7 and 9 for a total of four over par 40.
His good scores were in the inward nine with two birdies when he fired back to back in holes 11 and 12, fives pars in 10, 13, 16, 17 and 18 and returned with two bogeys in 14 and 15.
“This my first win in almost three years. In 2019, I was second at the Kenya seed tournament and this is a great improvement,” he said.
In a huge field of 130 golfers drawn from the region clubs like Eldoret, Kakamega, Kitale, Kericho and Nakuru, it was an all leaders win as club vice chairman David Sum was second with 39 points.
Club’s top handicap player Sosten Biwott beat Collins Kebenei on countback to win Division A category on 39 points with home player junior Zaddock Tanui winning Division B with similar points while other home player Winny Cheruiyot won Division C with 34 points.
Former Kitale golf club captain Stephen Malakwen was the staff winner as Isaac Basweti was the guest winner with both firing 39 points.
Kericho Lady Captain Eunice Korir won the Lady’s Prize with 38 points as Kakamega’s Luke Siahi and Nandi Bears’ Faith Chemutai won the longest drive for the men and ladies respectively before Kitale’s Haron Ndegwa claimed the nearest pin prize and Elvis Koech of Kericho Club won the Junior’s Prize.
