Bondeni FC and Bondeni Divas were crowned the champions of the anti-Gender Based Violence (GBV) tournament played today at Bishop Delany High school grounds.
Bondeni FC won the men’s title while Bondeni Divas won the women’s title in a tournament that attracted over ten teams in a one day event.
Ian Kiptanui and Emmanuel Brian scored a goal each at the finals for Bondeni to beat St. Joseph 2-0 at the men’s final match.
The lanky Kiptanui rounded off St. Joseph’s keeper Nimrod Kiplagat after beating Brian Kibet from a speedy pass by Brian to shoot past Kiplagat’s left corner for 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.
The celebration did not last as Brian capitalized on defence lapse when Kibet collided with defender Alvin Odhiambo to give Brian an easy scoring chance to double the score ten minutes later to seal the victory.
Brian was the tournament’s top scorer after netting eight goals in their four matches they played.
In the women’s title, Bondeni Divas were crowned the champions after collecting all points in the round robin system.
In the tournament, they won all their two matches to tally their points to six with ten goals ahead of Espodec who finished second with four points beating Kipkaren Divas with goal difference after picking four points too.
