Algeria played to a draw against South Africa in a group C match played at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Kampala, Uganda.
Coming from the north and from extreme South, Algeria and South Africa respectively played to a 1-1 draw to leave the pool open.
Popularly called The Fennecs, Algeria failed to win back to back after beating hosts Uganda in the opening fixture 3-0 with South Africa’s bafana Bafana playing their first match.
Abdennour Belhocini scored first in the 29th minute for Algeria before Thabiso Kutumela leveled to ensure Molefi Ntseki team claimed a point in their tournament opener in the 45th minute.
The Madjid Bougherra led side Algeria leads the pool on four points from two matches while Molefi Ntseki coached side South Africa has a point.
Algeria will now face Niger while South Africa will now turn their attention to Uganda.
