CHAN: South Africa sink Guinea

South Africa defeated Guinea to win their second match at the ongoing pool C encounter at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.

The Bafana Bafana won 2-1 to sink Guinea’s hopes of making it to the quarterfinals when Neo Maema scored first for the winners before Moussa Camara leveled for Guinea and Thabiso Kutumela secured victory for the South Africa based nation.

Following a draw in the opening fixture against Algeria, and Guinea reeling from a 3-0 loss to co-hosts Uganda, Bafana Bafana’s Maema scored in the 10th minute before Camara leveling in the 37th minute but hard-working South Africa scored the winning goal through Kutumela in the 54th minute.

The result moves South Africa into contention with four points, temporarily behind Algeria while Guinea, the defeat was a second successive setback and leaves them rooted to the bottom of the group.
