Fresh from winning gold and bronze at the World Cross country championships in Tallahassee Florida in the USA Agnes Chebet Ngetich and Daniel Simiu Ebenyo are set to defend their Sirikwa Classic, the world Cross Country Gold Tour titles set for February 16rh 2026 at the Lobo Village in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
With the race set for 5th edition, the duo said that they are eying to defend their respective titles in the 10km elite categoty.
Ng’etich, who holds the 10km world record, won her first gold medal in the cross country while Ebenyo, who won bronze medal in elite men confirmed their participation during the media launch yesterday at the Lobo Village.
Athletics Kenya President Jackson Tuwei said the event has maintained top-notch organization.
Tuwei, who is also a Vice President of World Athletics, encouraged families to follow the action live at the picturesque course.
Organisers have embedded kids athletics competitions ahead of the competitive elite races as they eye identification of young talents for nurturing.
Kenya will know the fate of its bid to host the World Championships at the Ultimate Championships scheduled for September in Budapest, Hungary.
