World marathon record holder Ruth Chepngetich and former Olympic marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir have withdrawn from competing at the London marathon set for April 27th 2025.
The duo withdrew and the organizers announced that former champion Vivian Cheruiyot will be heading to the England capital city with hopes of reclaiming the title.
Chepngetich holds the world record at 2:09:56 set during last year’s Chicago marathon in the USAbecoming the first women to run the 42km under two hours and 10 minutes
Jepchirchir also holds the women’s-only marathon world record with a time of 2:16:16 last year’s London Marathon.
But favour is with Cheruiyot who returns to the course after five years since October 2020.
