City Stars and Nairobi Women were crowned the champions of the National Golaball Championships held at the University of Nairobi, Kenya Science campus.
The sport played by visually impaired persons was organized by the Kenya Sports Association for the Visually Impaired (KESAVI) where, men, City Stars dominated the championships after beating hosts the University of Nairobi (UON) 9–4 before Nairobi edging out Karaba side 9–7 for the titles in the two-day tournament.
President Charles Waitherero said: “This year’s tournament was very competitive and marked a big step in spreading the sport across Kenya.”
Aside from crowning national champions, the tournament also served as a qualifying event for the 2025 IBSA Africa Goalball Championships.
Despite the success, logistical hurdles remain a major challenge
This achievement was made possible through a collaborative effort between Goalball UK and the Ministry of Sports.
