Cut your expenditure, share with young athletes, athletes urged

With three days to Christmas, athletes have been urged to cut out their massive budget expenses in this coronavirus pandemic.

Former athlete Philip Muia said that since there is Corona and many athletes are not competing as much as expected across the world, they should cut down their expenses.

“Athletes in this country are not working and no awarding competition events. I am urging fellow athletes to cut down the budget while enjoying their Christmas,” said Muia.

He urged well-off athletes to spend time with their upcoming runners and buy them food and gifts to fellow athletes.

“Christmas means celebrating with others. Let us celebrate with the vulnerable ones by donating foodstuffs like wheat flour, cooking oil to put smiles to this upcoming champions,” he added.

The former International athlete and serving chairman of the retired athletes union-Southern Region is optimistic that through the good heart of established athletes, the young ones will benefit more.

“I know the ones with good heart to ensure that upstarts, who have not competed this year due to the coronavirus have not earned anything and this is the right time to uplift their living standards. Life has been hard on them hoping for better outing next year,” concluded Muia.
