Eldoret City marathon date set

Long wait for the new dates for Eldoret City marathon is over following the announcement today.

Race director Moses Tanui announced that the 4th edition of the annual race will be held on April 11th 2021 after the 2020 edition was cancelled this year due to coronavirus pandemic.

He said that as a former international runner said he has the capacity in achieving their goals. With the labelling, the race will empower the town economically, which will be one of the attraction race for international athletes as well as tourism.

“If we are label everyone would like to run, because they will see wild animal, they will be running with champions, elite athletes, this marathon will take this country far as part of marketing. It will be one of the first marathon in Kenya to invite international athletes,” said Tanui.

Uasin Gishu county governor Jackson Mandago, who is the race patron said they did well last edition and they want to improve it to the next level.

“Considering that the race is among labelled, it is a very big achievement. We had to launch and prepare enough because we want to improve in terms of organization, in terms of meeting all requirement,” said Mandago.
