Reigning IAAF World championships 1,500m champion Elijah Manangoi and 2012 Olympic 3,000m steeplechase bronze medalist Abel Mutai will be the key highlight of tomorrow’s Nairobi Athletics Kenya national Cross country meeting.
The two Kenya Defence Forces runners will be competing in 10km senior men at Nairobi’s Posta Grounds, the first Athletics Kenya (A.K) national cross country meeting ahead of Africa Cross country championships.
With Ndalat Gaa and University of Eldoret cross country already done, focus shifts to the capital.
Also on the starting line-up in senior women’s race will be former world half marathon bronze medalist Peninah Arusei combining with Winny Chebet.
Top six finishers with winners walking with Sh10,000 for the seniors while junior winners will win Sh8,000. Relays top finishers will pocket Sh20,000, first runners up Sh16,000 while third place taking Sh12, 000.
After the Nairobi meet, the 12-leg series moves to Sotik on November 11 with National Championships being February 10 at Uhuru Gardens
