Former Boston marathon champion ex-Chesumei MP Elijah Kiptarbei Lagat is dead
According to the family, the 2,000 Boston marathon champion died yesterday in an Eldoret hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
Lagat, who also won both the Prague and Berlin marathon in 1997 and 1998 respectively, retired from long-distance running and joined politics and was twice elected as a Member of Parliament for Chesumei Constituency.
Before his death he was serving as a board member of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).
