Family Bank has raised the prize money for the 2019 Eldoret Half Marathon set to be held October 6th 2019 with winners pocketing kshs 350,000.
The Family Group has attracted an increase in sponsorship of KES 12 Million and an improved purse for the winners with the sponsorship kitty as winners will earn kshs 150,000 more from last year’s event an increase of KES 100,000 compared to last year’s prize money. The first and second runners-up will take home KES 250,000 and KES 150,000 respectively, which is also a KES 100,000 increase over last year’s prize money.
“We are honoured to once again partner with Athletics Kenya to deliver a bigger and better 2019 Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon. Our commitment is in recognizing and nurturing talent through athletics and bringing about transformation to our society. Through the proceeds of the Marathon, Champions Run for Autism, a cause that we took up in 2016, we have renovated 2 classrooms and accommodated 44 pupils in the Special Needs Programme at Sosiani Primary School,” said Family Group Foundation Manager, Jacqueline Mathaga. “We hope to attract even more individual and corporate sponsors in this year’s marathon and give an opportunity to children living with autism to access quality education,” she added.
Last year, World Half Marathon record holder Joyciline Jepkosgei proved her prowess to win the Family Group Eldoret Half Marathon while the men’s title was won by Kelvin Kiptum Cheruiyot
