Olympic 5,000m champion Vivian Cheruiyot and 2016 Paris Marathon champion Cyprian Kotut have confidence of winning Frankfurt marathon that will take place on 29th October in the Germany’s City.
Cheruiyot, the track mistress who logged off from competing on track and shifted gears to road running, will be taking on her second marathon after she competed in the 2017 London Marathon where she crossed the finish line in 2:23.50.
“Am so prepared for race come that day. My training has been in good condition and I do have hope that winning my first marathon will be good,” said Cheruiyot, the multiple IAAF world championships titles in Eldoret.
Last year, immediately after switching to serous road running, she won Great North Run half marathon but failed to defend her title in 2017 finishing second behind Mary Keitany.
Coming from a running family, Cyprian Kotut will be seeking to improve on his time through a win in Frankfurt.
“My preparation for the race is on course, fit enough for the marathon. I want my personal best through a win. I know there will be serious competitors like Mark Korir among others but I will have to do my best,” said Kotut, the young brother of double London marathon champion Martin Lel.
He added that going for his fourth marathon in his career, he has gained enough experience.
“With such experience, I have the capability to lift the title. Right now am going through the programme given by my coach and am now 70% to face the rest and come the material day, I will be 100% fit,” concluded Kotut.
The 25 year old Kotut holds his personal best at 2:07.13
