Great Rift golfing society: Macharia swings into victory in Nakuru

Home golfer M. Macharia won the Great Rift golfing society  (GRGS) Golf tournament that was played today at Nakuru Golf club.

Macharia played 41 stable Ford points to lift the title in the runner up to Tannahill Golf Championships set for April.

Luck Macharia started well in the inward nine with 23 stable Ford points with a birdie on hole three par four together with six pars and two bogeys.

His outward nine was not as successful as in the opening nine after shooting 18 stable Ford points.

Handicap the 12 golfer managed to sink three pars and three bogeys to win the title beating Njoro Club’s Kenneth Karanja with two points.

Playing handicap 15, Karanja scored 39 stable Ford points with 19 and 20 in each.

Handicap 15 golfer Miriam Wanjiku lost to Karanja on count back (20, 19) to take third position as Anthony Kabucho (20,19) finished fourth losing to Karanja and Wanjiku on count back.

Felistah Njeri, on 37 points  (20,17) was the lady winner as Dan Ngotho took home the junior prize on 34 stable Ford points  (16,18).

Handicap 6 golfer Charles Angweny and Kevin Juma were the first and second nine winners with 22 and 21 points respectively.

Eldoret based Aaron Kitur won the GRGS member with 38 points  (18,20) followed by Reuben Langat (36=19,17) before former Eldoret club chairman Hellen Yego completing the podium with a point behind Langat.
