Kakamega Homeboyz and newbies Nairobi United recorded victories in today’s rescheduled Kenya Premier league matches played at Nyayo and Gusii stadiums respectively in the opening matches of the year 2026.
Homeboyz managed to topple the twelve time champions AFC Leopards in a tense match at the Nyayo National stadium.
Henry Omollo scored the solitary goal in the 1-0 win for the Homeboyz after beating keeper Humprey Katasi.
The victory handed Kakamega based top position in the league with 24 points from 15 matches while Leopards moved to second on similar matches with a game in hand with the leaders having goal difference advantage.
At the Gusii stadium in Kisii county, visiting Nairobi edged out their hosts Shabana FC 3-1 to move to third on 23 points.
Duncan Omalla scored first for the winners in the 21st minutes with Michael Karamor doubling for 2-0 in the 44th minute then Omalla made it 3-0 in the 58th minute to seal but homeside secured a consolation through Brian Michira from a penalty.
