Impressive John Lejirma crowned KAGC overall 2025 champion

Despite failing to defend the Nyali Open title, the final leg of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC), at the par-71 Nyali Golf Club in Mombasa County, John Lejirma successfully reclaimed the KAGC overall title.

Apart from shining locally, Lejirma anchored team kenya to retain the Region IV Golf Championships title for the 4th time in Antananarivo, Madagascar last month.

After losing to home player William Odek in the sudden death play off, Lejirma went ahead to win the KAGC title following his dominance in the series that started off on January 26th 2025 for the Sigona Bowl in Sigona won by Michael Karanga.

The Royal Nairobi Golf Club player headed into the 54-hole stroke-play championship seeking to defend his Nyali Open title, with ambitions to reclaiming the overall KAGC crown but lost the chance to defend the title and won the overall crown.

Lejirma, who won the overall KAGC title during the 2023 season before Michael Karanga claimed it in 2024, won the 2025 season after accumulating 2,130 points.

This season had 33 events locally with Lejirma winning at Windsor Classic, Kisii Open (Shabana), Ronald Marshall, Coronation, Ruiru Open, Gold Field, Limuru Open, Nyanza Open (Hippo pot) and Uhuru Shield.

He finished second at Kiambu Open, Karen Challenge, Altitude Challenge and NyalimOpen.

Third positions were in Sigona Bowl, Muthaiga Open, Kenya Amateur Matchplay and Railway Invitation.
