National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) today marked a historic and progressive transition in its leadership as outgoing President Paul Tergat officially handing over the instruments of authority to the newly elected President, Shadrack Maluki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ceremony was a moment of both reflection and renewal, and paid tribute to the dedicated NOC-K Secretariat, whose consistency and professionalism have kept the institution grounded, efficient, and forward-focused throughout the transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his final address as NOC-K President, Tergat, an IOC Member, reflected on the organization\u2019s transformation during his eight-year tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese ladies and gentlemen distinguished themselves for exemplary dedication, passion, and teamwork\u2026 a selflessness trait,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the delivery secret for our transformation of NOC-K to a respectable and enviable institution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He acknowledged key partners such as Nike, the IOC, ANOCA, and local sponsors including Safaricom and Kenya Breweries, for believing in the NOC-K vision and standing firmly with the #TeamKenya family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He paid special tribute to the athletes, describing them as \u201cour biggest and most successful international brand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Tergat extended his best wishes to the new leadership, stating, \u201cI am persuaded that in them, we have a Team driven by a desire, a dream, and a vision to translate the aspirations of our athletes, Kenyan people, and the entire Olympic Movement to greater heights\u2026 I have tremendous confidence in your great leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Incoming President Shadrack Maluki, in his inaugural remarks, emphasized the Board\u2019s readiness to build on the existing legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is no reinventing the wheel but simply oiling and reinvigorating the parts and linkages that propel the momentum to greater success of the Movement and our athletes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recognizing the path carved by his predecessor, President Maluki added, \u201cWe stand on the foundation of a very reputable National Olympic Committee with great admiration across borders\u2026 I salute you, Mr. President and IOC Member, Paul.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the symbolic and operational transition, several critical institutional items were officially handed over, including the NOC-K Seal, Constitution, Olympic Charter, NOC-K and IOC flags, office keys, bank statements, cheque books, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These items represent the legal, administrative and symbolic authority of NOC-K \u2014 from governance documents that anchor Olympic values, to fiscal and institutional tools that ensure operational continuity. President Maluki reaffirmed that continuity and progress would remain the core tenets of his administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe remain one family, one Movement, one NOC\u2026 and we are ready to deliver our expertise, experiences, and services to the sports community at whatever capacity and space we occupy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
