Two time world half marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir is the only Kenyan to have made the cut into the next month’s world Athletics Award list.
The reigning the women’s only world half marathon record holder will be facing off with other four runners at the gala that is set to be held virtually on 5th December 2020 in Monaco.
The former RAK half marathon winner was named alongside Olympic 1,500m champion Faith Chepng’etich, World 5,000m champion and all Kenyan but dropped, leaving Jepchirchir to battle Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey, Dutch Sifan Hassan, Yulimar Rojas from Venezuela and Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah.
The women comes after Kenyan Only nominee, the world 1,500m champion, Timothy Cheruiyot failed to make the cut.
