Jeptoo, Kirwa to chase Paris marathon titles tomorrow

Two time London marathon champion Priscah Jeptoo and Nicholas Kirwa are set to shine at the Paris marathon set for this Sunday (17th) October in France.

The former Olympic Games marathon silver medallist, Jeptoo has her personal best of 2:20.14 set during the 2012 London Marathon.

At 37, Jeptoo will be returning into action after along time  and will be facing off with Ethiopians Wagnesh Mekasha and Sifan Melaku.

Mekasha has 2:22.45 as personal best won during the 2019 Dubai Marathon while Melaku holds a 2:23.49 set at the Seville marathon in February 2020.

Another Ethiopian Tigist Memuye has also been added to the list and carries on her shoulder a personal best of 2:24.23 that she got at the Harmony Geneva Marathon in May this year.

The three have been put together to target the race course record of 2:20.55 that was set by Purity Cherotich from Kenya in 2017.

In men, Kirwa will lead other Kenyans on the course with his 2:05.01 that he got at the Generali Milano Marathon in May of this year.

Kirwa will take on compatriot Joel Kemboi Kimurer, Elisha Rotich and Stephen Chebogut. Rotich comes in as the second fastest runner on paper with 2:06.44 while Chebogut has a pb of 2:05.52 that he got at the 2015 Eindhoven Marathon.

Ethiopia have put their hopes in Abdi Fufa who carries a personal best of  2:05.57 that he got early this year at the Xiamen Marathon where he finished in second place.
