John Lejirma Targets Double Glory as Nyali Open Concludes 2025 KAGC Series

John Lejirma will be aiming to kill two birds with one stone when he tees off at the Nyali Open, the final leg of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC), at the par-71 Nyali Golf Club in Mombasa County.

The Royal Nairobi Golf Club player heads into the 54-hole stroke-play championship seeking to defend his Nyali Open title while also reclaiming the overall KAGC crown when the event concludes on Sunday. The competition is scheduled to run from Friday, December 12th, to Sunday, December 14th.

Lejirma, who won the overall KAGC title during the 2023 season before Michael Karanga claimed it in 2024, currently leads the 2025 standings with 2,130 points. Karanga follows with 1,887 points, while Elvis Muigua completes the top three on 1,393.
A top-two finish for Lejirma this weekend will secure him the coveted overall title in what is expected to be one of the strongest amateur fields on the KAGC calendar.

Last year, Lejirma clinched the Nyali Open after returning a one-under-par total of 212, finishing seven shots ahead of Karanga, who posted six-over-par 219. Rwanda’s Felix Dusabe completed the podium on +12 (225).

This year’s tournament has attracted elite golfers from across the country, all eyeing top honors, crucial Order of Merit points, and a share of the KSh 580,000 prize kitty.
The Nyali Open maintains its tradition of high-level competition, with entry restricted to golfers holding a verifiable WHS handicap index of 16.3 or better.

All players will battle over three rounds on the demanding coastal layout, with the top 33 and ties making the cut for Sunday’s decisive round.
