KCB Rugby stun Menengai Oilers for Christie 7s title

KCB Rugby defeated Menengai Oilers to lift their second Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) national 7s circuit, the Christie 7s title played yesterday at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

The bankers, who won the opening leg, the Driftwood 7s in Mombasa edged out Oilers 17-05 to claim the title to take the lead on the table.

It was also the first time the two sides were meeting in a final since the 2024 Kabeberi 7s, which KCB also won.

KCB has maintained their winning ways against Oilers this season, first at quarterfinals and semifinals.

The Banker’s tries came from Floyd Wabwire who touched down the opener the unconverted try before Festus Shiasi double with a converted try for 12-0 into break.

On resumption, Wabwire was at it again with another unconverted try for 19-0 but Oilers Samuel Ovwamu made the consolation unconverted try for the final 17-05 win.
