Royal Club’s Kenneth Bollo will be trying to kill two birds with a single stone at action returns in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) golf series resumes this weekend with the 2017 Trans Nzoia championships at the par-72 Kitale Golf Club over the weekend.
The two day event (Saturday and Sunday), Bollo will be using them in defending his Trans Nzoia Championships he won last year as well as defend his KAGC, formerly Golfer of the Year (GOTY) title in the 19 event series.
Vet Lab’s Mike Kisia who is leading the KAGC board after winning the last meeting at Winston Churchill Cup with 68, 67 to finish with nine under 135 a fortnight ago will also be featuring in the championships together with his club member Edwin Mudanyi who is second on the table.
Bollo said that despite struggling with his swing, he will be doing his best to defend the title that will be sponsored by Post Bank.
“Am still fighting with my swing and its getting better every single day. I have new golf sets which I bought recently that has boosted my morale too,” said Bollo.
The title defendin champion has claimed two wins of the meeting in 2014 and 2016 and wants a hat trick on the course.
“I have won the meeting two times and my return to the course, I can brag and and I still have a chance to win despite having strong opponents like Kisia (Mike) who is op top form,” said Bollo adding that Mudanyi (Edwin), Owiti (Robinson), Nandwa (Alfred), karichu (John), Kubwa (Jeff) and Saikwa (Dennis) are on top form and will pose a great challenge.
According to the draw released by Kitale club captain Fandi Shiyukah, Bollo will be teeing off at 9:00am. Shiyukah will play alongside Bollo, B. Cheruiyot and Kenya Golf Union Western representative Andrew Chelogoi.
Shiyukah said having such big event on the course will be a great for both the club and its environs.
“We are well prepared for the big event on Saturday and Sunday. The event is one of the biggest event this year on the course and we expect a competitive tournament,” said Shiyukah.
