Kenya defeated Burundi to earn the hosting rights for the Billie Jean King Cup Africa Group III for the second time in a row.
Today, Kenya won the bid to host the tournament come June as they seek to improve from last year’s bronze medal behind champions Morocco that won gold and was promoted to Group 2 with Tunisia settling for silver.
Kenya and Burundi were the only countries to bid for the tournament to be staged from June 10 in the 12 nations tournament like Botswana, Burundi, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
The winner will be promoted to the Billy Jean King Cup Europe /Africa Group II tournament in 2025.
Team Kenya will bank on African Games tennis champion Angela Okutoyi, her twin sister — Rosehilda Asumwa, Alicia Owegi, Cynthia Cheruto, Zimbabwe-based Melissa Mwakha and Stacy Yego.
