Kenya Netball Federation (KNF) secretary general Lilian Anupi announced that the federation’s elections will be held on 24th March in Nairobi.
“The national elections will be preceded by branch elections to be held on February 24. We had intention to hold the elections at the Kenya National Sports Council board room but this won’t be possible owing to the ongoing renovation of Nyayo National Stadium.
“We will have to look for another alternative venue,” Anupi said in a notice to all 47 KNF branches adding they are required to pay the annual affiliate fee of KSh10,000 to take part in the elections.
The federation’s Executive were accused last month by stakeholders of delaying the Annual General Meeting to prolong their stay in office.
The KNF fixtures secretary Millicent Busolo, Ganec coach, Joseph Makau, and umpire, Samuel Asilikwa, led nine branches including Meru, Kakamega, Nyeri, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Busia, Makueni, Homabay and Kiambu to challenge the sitting office to call for the AGM.
The federation held its last election in 2014 where Mildred Ayiemba Wanyama, mother to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and Harambee Stars captain, Victor Wanyama, was elected President.
Meanwhile, KNF has released its calendar of events for the 2018 season. The league is set to commence on March 30 in Kitale.
