Kenya Volleyball Federation League: GSU are the champions

General Service Unit (GSU) are the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league champions, to win back the title they last won in 2015.

The red berets registered 100% wins in the concluded KVF play offs at Mombasa’s Makande Hall on Sunday in the three day that served off on Friday.

On the opening day, GSU men started with an emphatic over Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in a thrilling four setter match.

GSU won the first set 25-23 but KPA won the second long set of 26-24, before GSU taking the remaining two in 25-20 and 25-23.

On Saturday, it was the script for the champions who beat defending champions Prison Kenya 3-1 (27-25, 25-15, 15-25 and 25-18).

It was a great harvest today as the champions won easily with three straight sets of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-23 to clinch the title.

The win was good for team captain David Kirwa who said they had done enough homework.

“We have delivered this year and our focus now shifts to next year’s Africa Club Championships,” said Kirwa.

He added “Definitely it is a good timing that we have reclaimed the trophy we surrendered to our rivals Kenya Prisons last year. We went back to the drawing board and worked on our undoing and am happy this time all our departments have worked in unison.”
