Kenyan golfers dominated the opening day of Victoria Cup Golf championships against their Ugandan compatriots on their way to win a hat-trick at par 72 Vet lab Golf Club in a trophy that was donated by marathoner turned golfer Moses Tanui.
Kenya, which won the first tournament in 2016 at Muthaiga and defended the title on Entebbe club won all their matches against the opponents. The first pairs of Nyali’s Daniel Nduva and and Agil Is Haq beat Uganda’s pair of Adolf Muhumuza and David Kamulindwa 3-1.
Riyal club’s Dennis Saikwa and Mike Kisia of Vet Lab won by 6-5 against Uganda’s team captain Becca Mwanja and Rodel Gaita before the pair of John Karichu and Paul Muchangi beat Uganda’s Cwanyaai Joseph and Herman Mutebi 5-4. In the last match, the pair of Kenya’s top amateur Edwin Mudanyi and the leading junior player in the country Mutahi Kibugu posted a 4-3 victory against Richard Baguma and Ronald Rugumayo, for Kenya’s clean sweep.
