Kenyans John Korir and Joyciline Jepkosgei are Valencia marathon champions

It was a good harvest for Kenyan athletes who dominated the 2025 Valencia marathon held today in Spain where John Korir and Joyciline Jepkosgei were crowned the champions.

After failing to finish the Chicago Marathon in October, reigning Boston marathon champion Korir went ahead to claim the title despite being included in the last minutes aead of the race.

He went ahead to claim the title in 2:02:24, as the eighth fastest time in history ahead of Germany’s Amanal Petros (2:04:03) with Eritrean-born Norwegian Awet Kibrab completing the podium in 2:04:25.

In women, Jepkosgei edged out former Olympic Games marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir for the title.

Jepkosgei, the former world half marathon record holder stopped the timer at 2:14:00 with Jepchirchir coming second at 2:14:43 as Chloe Herbiet of Belgium took third place after clocking 2:20:38.
