Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has released the Shujaa, the national rugby 7s team squad ahead of Safari 7s championships that will be played at the Nyayo National stadium this weekend.
Today, the union named the first team’s squad in a tournament that kicks off on October 10th to 12th where 20 teams have registered to compete at the annual championships.
Head coach Kevin Wambua named the Shujaa among them George Ooro, Samuel Asati, with the return of Christian Ojwang after a lengthy injury.
There will be 20 teams 12 men’s and 8 women’s with Shujaa entering as defending champions after their 12-0 victory over Shogun at last year’s edition in Machakos.
The 13-man Shujaa squad for the 2025 Safari Sevens is heavily dominated by KCB Rugby Club, who contributed five players having clinched the 2025 National 7s Circuit title.
