World half marathon record holder Kibiwott Kandie and former Berlin marathon champion Kenenisa Bekele will be the key highlight at the Sunday’s New York City Marathon.
Making his debut in marathon, Kandie will be chasing the title at the World marathon majors in his career but Bekele is one of the most experienced marathoner despite failing to shine at the Berlin marathon in September, failing to break the world record set by Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge and beating his time.
Kenenisa is the second-fastest marathoner of all time with a 2:01:41 having experience of running sub 2:06 on the course that has Olympic silver medalist Abdi Nageeye.
In women, Olympic marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir will be up against Kenyan born turn American Sally Kipyego among others.
