World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum report has revealed that he died due from serious head injuries caused by the road accident.
The government chief pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor after conducting the postmortem to the body of the London marathon champion revealed that Kiptum suffered severe injuries and fractures on his head.
The doctor said that he had to perform the postmortem due to speculation that arose after the crush on Sunday of February 11th along Eldoret-kaptagat road.
In the poresence of the event was the late marathoner’s father Samson Cheruiyot, homicide officers from the DCI headquarters among others.
“Apart from today’s postmortem, we have taken samples from the body for toxicology analysis to help determine what may have caused the accident,” he said.
At the same time, family Philip Kiplagat said they were satisfied with the details of the postmortem and would proceed to bury Kiptum at the new home in Naiberi.
