Reigning Olympic Games 1,500m champion Faith Chepng’etich Kipyegon failed to break the world record in Hengelo, The Netherlands.
In today’s run, it was her third time Kipyegon has attempt to break the 1,000m world record hit a rock
She clocked 2:40.50, failing to end her journey well when she started in Monaco falling 0.17 seconds shy of Svetlana Masterkova’s world record which has stood for 24 years
In her second attempt, she competed at the Memorial Van Damme in Brussels ending the race in 2:29.92.
In the race, Kipyegon led former World 800m champion Eunice Sum who finished second in 2:41.37 then world 3,000m steeplechaqse world record Beatrice Chepkoech (2:44.44).
