Double Olympic Games 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon’s 1,500m and 5,000m world records have been ratified by World Athletics.
Kipyegon set new world records in June in the women’s 1500m and 5000m and the world governing body has officially made it a world record.
The first of Kipyegon’s world records was set at the Golden Gala, a Wanda Diamond League meeting, in Florence on 2 June at 3:49.11 to break the women’s world 1500m record of 3:50.07 that was set by Ethiopia’s Genzebe Dibaba.
A week later, at the Paris Diamond League, Kipyegon set up another 5000m world record of 14:06.62 set by Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Giday to 14:05.20.
