KPA, DCI tops KVF table

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and debutants Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) are the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) table leaders following last weekend’s KVF National Open championships staged at Kamukunji grounds, Nyeri County.

KPA toppled then leaders Equity Bank after the 4th leg of KVF league in men’s league while DCI are the leaders in women’s category.

The Mombasa-based men side KPA dislodged the bankers from the pole position after registering two victories in their league fixtures. The dockers defeated Prisons Nairobi in straight sets(3-0) before beating Kericho County with the same margin.

As KPA won all matches, Equity Bank registered one win against Kahawa Garrison 3-0 and lost one to reigning KVF champions General Service 3-0.

National champions GSU are currently ranked 3rd following their two victories over Equity (3-0) and Prisons Kenya (3-2) while Prisons Kenya lie in fourth position after registering a win over Kahawa Garrison (3-0) and losing (2-3) to GSU.

KPA has accumulated 18 points followed by the banker’s 12, GSU’s 17 and Prison Kenya’s 16.

New comers DCI have made their presence felt in the top tier league and are currently commanding the lead in the ladies category.

DCI sit on top of the log with 13 points from seven matches. DCI defeating Kahawa Garrison 3-0 while reigning champions Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) who had no match in Nyeri are in second position with 12 points from 4 games played.

Bungoma County and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) sits in third and fourth positions after 12 points apiece after playing 6 matches each.

Bungoma County edged out western Bombers 3-0 in the only league fixture. Prisons Kenya find themselves in fifth position as the battle for a top four finish heats up, they overcame Western Bombers 3-0 and Kahawa Garrison 3-0 in their league fixtures. In other matches of the day, KDF beat Western Bombers 3-0 and are in 6th position.
