Simon Kubai won the first gold for Lenya at the World Deaf Athletics Championships that kicked off in Lublin, Poland on Monday.
As Kubai won gold in 10,0000m, his compatriot Martin Ndung’u won bronze medal in the same race on Monday.
The 34 year old crossed the finish line in 29:44.44 ahead of Swedish Otto Kingstedt claimed silver in 29:47.31 and Ndung’u 30:12.40 with Peter Toroitich coming 4th in 30:53.69.
But Kenyans John Kiplang’at, Elikana Kiprop and Peter Kokobi qualified to compete in the 1,500m set for tomorr0w.
Kiplang’at starred in Heat 1 in 4:39.45, ahead of Spanish Villance Marron and Yerlan Suievaliyev who finished second and third in 4:43.99 and 4:44.61 respectively.
Edwin Kipng’eno and David Njeru will on today fly Kenya’s flag high in the men’s 10,000m final.
David Wamira will also be battling to have his name in the medal list in the men’s 100m final.
