Commonwealth Games 10,000m bronze medalist Rodgers Kwemoi Chumo and reigning national cross country champion Sheila Chelangat outpaced their opponents to win the National cross country cum national trials for Africa cross country championships at the Ngong racecourse.
Kwemoi faced a stiff compettion from world half marathon record holder Kibiwott Kandie, former Africa cross country junior champion Nicholas kimeli, national 5,000m champion Michale Kibet among others to win the senior men’s 10km title.
Running for Central Rift, Kwemoi stayed in the leading park won the title in 31:07.3 ahead of Kandie (31:05.5) of KDF and Edwin Bett 31:10.9 from South Rift.
Chelengat, competing for National Police Service won the title in 34:55.5 ahead of Daisy Cherotich (35:00.9) of Central Rift and world marathon champion Ruth Chepngetich from Nairobi in 35:02.7.
