John Lejirma defeated home player Elly Barno to win the second edition of Nandi Shield Open that came to an end on Sunday at the par 72 Nandi Bears golf club.
The Kenya Railways golfer managed to fire level par 144 for the title after playing four under 68 and four over par 76 in the second round on Sunday to claim the title.
Lejirma, who defeated defending champion Nelson as he plans to defend his Uhuru Shield Open over the weekend.
But it was the worst day in the second and final round of the championships where he recorded four over par 76 to emerge victorious.
“It was a bad day for me but since I had played well in round one, it really helped me to secure victory in a hotly contested tournament,” said Lejirma.
