Kenya’s cross country runner Lydia Naliaka Simiyu won the Cape Town marathon title held today in South Africa.
Making her debut in marathon, Simiyu clocked 2:25.41 for the title with a course record that was held by compatriot Celestine Chepchirchir in 2:26.44.
Running on home ground, Stephen Mokoka defended his title heblast won in 2019 following the cancellation of 2020 event.
The South African won the title in 2:09.58 for double victory.
