Madagascar shootout Kenya’s Harambee Stars from CHAN

Hosts Kenya was eliminated from the African Nations Championships (CHAN) in the hands of Madagascar during the quarterfinal match played on Saturday at the Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Madagascar won 4-2 in penalty shooutout following a 1-1 draw in both regular and extra time in the id to reach their first continental semi-final in 38 years.

After extra time, Toky Rakotondraibe converting the decisive penalty after Alphonce Omija missed for the hosts.

Kenya score first through Alphonce Omija through a header in the 48th minute from Boniface Muchiri’s foul shot to give Benni McCarthy’s men a 1-0 lead.

But celebrations were cut shot when Lewis Bandi handball handed Fenohasina Razafimaro who converted from the spot for a 1-1 draw into the final whistle, forcing the match into extra time where no team scored then penalties.

Kenya scored through Siraj Mohammed, Daniel Sakari and Sylvester Owino but Mike Kibwage shot was saved Michel Ramandimbisoa then Omija shot wide while Madagascar converted through Rakotondraibe
