Madoka half marathon: Isaac Kipkoech, Nancy Kiprop are champions

Isaac Kipkoech and Nancy Kiprop were the winners of Safaricom Madoka Half Marathon half marathon held on Sunday morning in Machakos County.

Kipkoech cut the tape in 01:04:10 followed by Joseph Koech who came second timing 01:04:38 before Shadrack Kiplagat wound the podium in 01:04:38.

Kerich based Kipkoech finished fourth in 2015 and his return to the course was a blessing as he emerged the winner.

Kipkoech wants to feature in next weekend’s Frankfurt marathon in the Germany city.

In women’s category, Nancy Kiprop from Elgeyo Marakwet led in time of 1:14:05, first runners up was taken by Naomi Kibet in time of 1:14:15 while Nancy Munano came in third in time of 1:14:11.

Over 3000 athletes and locals took part in the took part in the annual race for both men and women. Winners of the 21km race for both men and women took home Sh 500,000. The race received KES 2 Million sponsorship in cash and logistical support.

Upcoming races in the Safaricom Athletics Series include: Imenti South Road Race and Kisumu Town Marathon, which will wind up this year’s edition in December.
