Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has named a provisional Malkia Strikers ahead of FIVB Women’s World Championship set for august in Thailand.
Fresh from winning the national KVF title, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) have the majority of players into the squad coupled with KCB that have been called up to the national team for the championships that serves off from August 22nd to September 7th.
KPC has Daisy Leting, the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), Emmaculate Nekesa (Best Setter), Gladys Ekaru (Best Middle Blocker and team captain), Loice Simiyu (Best Opposite), Celestine Nyongesa, Mariam Musa, Lydia Emokol, and Elizabeth Sokoiyo.
KCB has seven players in the 29-member provisional squad include Marlene Tata, Juliana Namutira, Belinda Barasa, Deborah Jesang, Fridah Boke, Pauline Chemutai and Shirleen Maywa.
Second placed Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has Sarah Namisi (Best Server) and Sharon Jeruto (Best Outside Hitter).
Newly appointed head coach Geoffrey Omondi, who also serves as the KPC coach omitted Olympians Edith Wisa, Mercy Moim, Lincy Jeruto and Trizah Atuka.
According to the fixtures, the 10-time African champions have been drawn into Pool G, alongside Poland, Germany, and Vietnam.
Omondi will be incharge of the team for the first time after his appointment and will be assisted by David Muthui and Esther Jepkosgei.
John Oronje will serve as Team Manager, while Sarah Karongo joins as the team’s physiotherapist. Former head coach Paul Bitok returns in a new role as Head of Delegation.
