Michael Karanga set to defend Sigona Bowl as KAGC tees off

Reigning Sigona Bowl champion Michael karanga will be seeking back to back victories of Sigona Bowl, the opening leg of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series at the par 72 Sigona Golf Club.

After losing last year’s title to club mate Elvis Muigua, Karanga fired a total of four under par 212 for the title he won way back in 2023.

The three day event that tees  off from tomorrow, 15th to 17th January 2026 at Sigona Golf Club has attracted 150 registered players from Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and India, underscoring its stature as one of the region’s premier amateur golf events.

Karnga will face strong competition from a talented field that includes Elvis Muigua, Ebill Isaac, and Isaac Makokha, all tipped as strong contenders. Also in action is Elvis Muigua, recently crowned NDC Champion, while Junaid Manji and Hetansh Shah add further quality to the field.

Junaid Manji enters the tournament with the lowest handicap of -3.7, setting the stage for a highly competitive championship. The Sigona Bowl is the first tournament on the 2026 Kenya Golf Union calendar and will feature a total prize purse of KES 500,000, offering players an early opportunity to earn ranking points and set the tone for the season.
