Kenya’s Agnes Jebet Ngtich and Ethiopian Yomif kejelcha were the winners of today’s Valencia Half marathon held in Spain.
After missing a medal at the world championships in Tokyo in both 5,000m and 10,000m, Ngetich returned in road running to claim the title after clocking 63:08 missing to break the world record currently held by Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey at 62:52.
The 24 year old beat Ethiopia’s Fotyen Tesfay to second in 65:11 ahead of Kenya’s Veronica Loleo at 65:46.
Kejelcha claimed the men’s title in 58:02, to miss the world record of 57:31 held by Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo.
Secon position went to Rodrigue Kwizera of Burundi at 58:39 ahead of Kenya’s Brian Kibor’s 58:39.
