Omanyala drops out of Diamond League over injury

The reigning Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala has opted out of Diamond Leagues due to an injury.

Omanyala, who holds the African 100m record said that he has hip iliopsoas, and gluteal injury he picked and will miss the Diamond league finals.

The Kenyan sprinter posted on his X account saying “Due to recent hip, iliopsoas, and gluteal pain experienced over the past few weeks, I regret to inform you that I will be unable to participate in the Diamond League Finals 2025. I am optimistic about my recovery and anticipate being fully fit for Tokyo.”

He announced their withdrawal from the 2025 Diamond League Finals after experiencing persistent hip, iliopsoas, and gluteal pain in recent weeks.

The setback comes just a few weeks before the build-up to the Tokyo 2025 World Championships, where he remains determined to compete at full strength.
