Top golfers will be descending to Nandi Bears golf club for the inaugural senior Chief Johnson Sugut Memorial Golf Day on Sunday.
Club Captain Mutai Kenduiwo was optimistic that being the end of the year, he will be expecting over 100 golfers to compete on the leafy and hilly course as the winner will walk away with a heifer.
“We are expecting a large out since we are closing the year on a high note. Now that there are no golf tournaments in the North Rift, we expect top golfers,” said Mutai.
The tournament is in honour of past club Captain and club Chairman, the late Senior Chief Johnson Sugut, has attracted top notch golfers and by Friday evening, over 50 golfers had confirmed taking part in the inaugural tournament.
“The confirmed names suggests that the turn up will be big,” added Mutai who will tee off at 10:08am alongside Eldoret chairman Andrew Chelogoi and Nanji.
Eldoret captain jack Tuwei will lead Eldoret team of Aron Kitur, Jackson Kiprono, among others.
The tournament has also attracted former captains Stephen Malakwen (Kitale), Hieronim Ikhokoro (Kakamega), Caleb Kebeni (Nandi), Sandeep Grewal (Eldoret),
